Working from home is one of the greatest lifestyles ever. No long commutes, no earlier hours, no incompetent bosses, no late nights, and no limit on your income. This lifestyle is very obtainable, but it requires courage and discipline. Internet based stores are allowing more people than ever to start working from home and ditching the rat race.  John Alvarez has been working from home for over five years. It is not always easy to work from home. It requires drive and discipline. Your 50 hour work week and easily turn into a 90 hour work week or a zero hour week. All to often people will not set clear goals for their home business and either let it consume them or ignore it into bankruptcy. Here is our top ten list to successful working from home.

1. Set Clear Income Goals. By knowing how much you want to earn you will be able to make short term goals to keep you focused and continually increase profit.

2. Office Space. Make sure you have a certain area of your home where business is done. Once you are in the office you need to be working. Working in the kitchen or living room will lead to many distractions and unproductive hours of work.

3. Incorporate your business. The tax savings should not be ignored. This will also help you take your business serious.

4. Outsource. There are very many great opportunities to outsource labor to growing countries like the Phillipines. I have had great experiences using labor found of craigslist.

5.  Communicate with Family. It is important your family understands that you have work today. Its great to spend time with your kids and spouse, but work time should be as free of distractions as possible. Post your hours on the door of your office. Letting everyone know important interruptions only.

6. Set a routine. You no longer have a boss to check up on you. You have to hold yourself accountable for your own work. Getting into a routine will make it easier for your to stay on track with your business.

7. Read The Art of Getting Things Done by David Allen. Now that you work for yourself you no more slacking or dragging your feet. Being productive means less time working. This book will improve your life.

8. Be Social. Working from home can really limit your contact with peers. Schedule time to go to lunch with friends.  Use twitter to keep in contact with colleagues.

9. Respect Your Space. Keep your home office clean and organized. Nothing will kill productivity more than an unorganized cluttered desk. Even thought you are at home you should still be professional.

10. Enjoy! You are living a lifestlye that will bring unity and wholeness to your life. Spend time with family, travel, engage in your hobbies, and continue to grow your business.
